Pictured above Farnham Village Trustee Judith Pruett is honored by Mayor Terry Caber and the Village Trustees George Cordia, Anthony Krtanjek and Jere Hoisington at her last meeting after 14 years of serving on the Farnham Village Board. by Alice Escott On March 28, 2006, the Farnham Village Board met in regular session. All members were present. A Public Hearing was set for April 18, 2006 at 7:45pm to accept public comment on the Proposed Fiscal Year 2007 Village Budget. There are no tax increases in the 2007 Budget. The Board has worked very hard to keep things level for the last 10 years with only minor increases at the time the revenue from the railroad properties was lost and we needed to compensate for that loss. The tax rate per thousand assessed valuation will be $9.068. The Tentative Budget is on file in the Village Clerk’s Office for any one wishing to inspect it before the Public Hearing. Mayor Terry Caber honored Trustee Judy Pruett for her 14 years of service to the Village of Farnham. Since 1992, Mrs. Pruett, a life long resident of Farnham, has served on the Village Board and done an outstanding job for the Village. The Mayor and Board wished Mrs. Pruett continued successes with all of her new endeavors. The Village Park Recreation Project update - signed a contract with Peter J. Smith for drainage/grading and construction plans cost for these plans/service is approximately $3,000. These plans also layout the parking area, play area and basketball courts, with measurements so layout can begin and bid requests will be able to be sent out for the appropriate work. The Veterans Memorial Stone has been ordered from Stone Art Memorial in Lackawanna. It will be dark granite with the insignias of the various armed forces and a saying "Representing all of the men and women of the Village of Farnham who have served the Nation during times of war and peace." Hopefully the stone will be available to be dedicated this Memorial Day. Next meeting of the Quality Communities Grant commission will be in North Collins. Member Item Requests for monetary help with the demolition of the Farnham School are still pending. Mayor Terry Caber will call each office, Quinn, Volker and Higgins, to find out the status of each. The Village Beautification Meeting was held on March 23. The next meeting will be May 10. The committee members will meet to layout the plant arrangement at the welcome signs. The Corrections Departments will be giving the Village 30 days of workers beginning in mid May. Mark Hageman will be working on his Eagle Scout award and will be doing a Village cleanup as a part of his service project. In other matters, the Board: • Authorized Mayor Caber to sign the extensions of the agreement to the 1995 Water Supply Agreement with the Town of Brant until December 31, 2006 pending meetings between the Town and the Village. Councilmen John Chiavetta and Jeff Gier will be meeting with Mayor Caber and Trustee Tony Krtanjek to discuss the water agreement and where the Town will be going in the future. • Authorized Mayor Caber to sign a contract in the amount of $515 per year with Corrpro Co., Inc. for corrosion inspection of the water tower at two inspections per year. • Authorized the Village Clerk to advertise for bids to purchase the Fire Department’s 1971 Chevrolet Panel Van Rescue Vehicle. • Set the Annual Organizational Meeting for Monday April 3, 2006 at 7pm. Newly elected Trustee Virginia (Ginny) Schilling will be sworn in at that time. Trustee Jere Hoisington was sworn in at the March 28, 2006 meeting since he will not be available for the April 3 meeting. • The Village Employee Handbook was completed.
