Consignment Shop Opens in Village of Angola
Just in time for the holidays, Daisy’s Consignment & Boutique has opened at 15 N. Main Street in the Village of Angola. Erica Lottbrein, the owner of Daisy’s, is open Tuesday through Friday from 10am to 6pm and Saturday from 10am to 2pm with clothing, accessories and more for children: newborn to 16 and clothing and accessories for men and women. Erica accepts gently used items for sale on a 50/50 split ratio. Since Daisy’s Consignment & Boutique is located in the building that had housed Acute Cut & Nails Salon, Erica kept the tanning beds that had been at the salon. Tanning is available during her daily hours of operation. Erica will also honor any tanning packages that had been purchased from Acute Cut & Nails until January 1, 2008. BKobee.Com Photography studio is also located at 15 N. Main Street. Beverly Kobee of Angola is a Professional Photographer and Web Designer. Bev, who specializes in weddings, portraits, glamour shots and events loves to have people look at her work and see the beauty and energy she is able to capture in pictures. In addition to studio shots, Bev utilizes many outdoor locations in and around the Buffalo area. With the upcoming gift giving season, Glamour Shots make a wonderful gift for loved ones. Glamour Shots are not just for the "ladies" to have taken as gifts for the men in their lives. Glamour Shots involve "pampering" of females and males, individuals, couples and families and then a photo session that produces beautiful, "glamour" images to share. Bev also has "Senior Portrait" packages available for high school seniors. Anyone looking for a photographer may check out her website www.bkobee.com, call Bev at 716-480-2058 or email bev@bkobee.com. Highlights from the Brant Town Board Meeting The Brant Town Board met on November 13, 2007. All members were present. Kirk Ritz addressed the Board regarding a political letter from John Chiavetta. Ritz was told that the Board meeting was not the place to discuss politics. Ritz then again questioned why Officer Hock was still on the payroll. He was told it was a personnel issue and would not be discussed at a public meeting. Supervisor Leonard Pero also stated that no one has come to his office to discuss their concerns about police personnel. Misinterpretations have been circulating. Items that have been questioned regarding Civil Service have been investigated and the Town is working to make sure all issues are cleared. As supervisor, Pero stated that he will stand behind all Town employees, 100%. Some additional questions were again brought to the Board pertaining to Officer Hock, his certification and the color of his badge. The questions were referred to Police Chief Mike Felschow. A question was asked about the cost to the Town to answer the numerous FOIL requests that have been submitted pertaining to Officer Hock. Currently there is nothing in place to track the cost of filling FOIL requests. FOIL requests are the responsibility of the Designated Information Officer (Town Clerk). The 2008 Budget was adopted as amended by a vote of 4 to 1. Councilwoman Roseann Turner cast the nay vote. The 2008 Budget will be available on-line as soon as possible. The contract with Solar Liberty for the solar panel system for the Town Highway Department has been signed. There will be no cost to the Town for this system. Town Attorney Grennell talked with NYSERDA (New York Sate Energy Research and Development Authority) who assured him that several other municipalities downstate have worked with Solar Liberty on projects. Solar Liberty is the only certified contractor, at this time, in WNY. NYSERDA will not release payment to Solar Liberty unless the installation is correct. Orchard Park has had a similar system installed and it is working well. Each installation is custom designed. The amount of energy produced is expected to equal the amount of energy needed. Additional energy may be produced, and sold back to the energy grid, during the summer months when there is longer daylight. Councilman Jeff Gier congratulated the North Collins Boys Varsity Soccer team for their 2-1 victory over Ellicottville on Saturday, October 27, in the Section 6 Class D Championship game. Brant players on the team included John LoBianco, Troy Gier and Nick Gier. Councilman John Chiavetta reported that Siemens Medical Solutions is giving away its newest MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) system to a deserving hospital that secures the most votes for a video posted to www.WinAnMRI.com. Locally, Lockport Memorial Hospital is in the running and Chiavetta suggested that we help them out by going on line and voting for them. Voting will take place until December 31, 2007. In other matters, the Board: • Extended the refuse contract with Westfield Disposal for one year. • Authorized the signing of the contract with Erie County for snow removal and ice control. • Approved the creation of 4 part time non-competitive police positions. This brings the total positions to 14. It is not anticipated that all 4 new positions will be filled at this time but it is easier and cost effective to create the additional positions for future use even if only one or two positions are currently needed. • Scheduled a Public Hearing to received comments on the proposed Time Warner contract. The contract period is 10 years. The contract is considered to be for a quasi-utility service (cable). Cable service is not currently available to the entire Town. • Will look into pricing on sand filters for the Town pool • Will get 2 additional quotes before purchasing a floor machine (scrubber/cleaner) for the Senior/Community Building. • Received a letter of appreciation from Lake Shore Schools Superintendent Jeffrey Rabey for having the police dog visit the schools. • Received a letter from Farnham Mayor Terry Caber thanking the Highway Department for hauling fill to the Farnham Recreation Park and Playground The Board adjourned the meeting in memory of Mike Walters. The next meeting will be a work session on Thursday, December 6 at 7:30pm and a regular meeting on Tuesday, December 10, 2007 at 7:30.
